The Best Competitive and Market Intelligence in the Marketplace
It was an excellent experience with FirstLight. The testing and setup were a dream, very easy. From an internal perspective, you do need to have your competitive and market intel sources and names well documented, so it forces you to get all of that organized. The meetings with the vendor's staff really helped me visualize the best approach to organizing my dashboards for my users' needs. AND my internal company users are SO EXCITED about what I have there. That is like proof of success. And they have already asked me to ADD new dashboards and content, so that is like the cherry on top. And the AI and the automatic tagging is fantastic.
Pros
Everything!! The FirstLight Enterprise product, the flexibility, the SSO, customized domain name, the custom email, the metrics, the dashboards, the menus, ability to build your own taxonomy, the knowledge base it uses. MOST IMPORTANTLY it is the executive product vision and especially the customer support is extraordinary. And they make improvements when you ask. This vendor COLLABORATES with you to make it the best product not only for you but for others. The vendor STAFF are superlative, amazing to work with. And did I mention the great business model and pricing. You are NOT charged for each topic, or each competitor, or each user. It is one flat rate. OMG, for LARGE enterprise companies, it is the BEST business model ever. It is easy to learn the product and easy to set up too.

There is nothing I disliked about the software or the vendor. No negatives whatsoever.

A Force Multiplier
FirstLight is truly a competitive advantage for our team. It is an integral tool we use every day whether it's to keep informed or to assist in analysis and help disseminate insight to key decisionmakers.
Pros
First Light tracked data and materials from a myriad of sources and condensed it into an intuitive and highly functional library that saved thousands of man hours in terms of collection. It also facilitated rapid dissemination of insights and briefs to key decisionmakers in a consistent view that became a trusted source. The customization features and most importantly the technical support and expertise are truly unrivaled with regards to the tools our team has used. I have worked with multiple platforms and can confidently say this is the one we stuck with after multiple reviews because it consistently delivered on every metric we needed as a team.
Cons
There is a degree of ramp up time in terms of learning the platform and syncing it into the team's processes. This was especially difficult given our team's broader transitions but FirstLight really do revolutionize and simplify the tasks and free our team up to do more true intelligence work and much less librarian, collection, and information seeker tasks.

Aurora WDC and their FirstLight Platform Exceeded Our Expectations!
We needed our users to have a better user experience with the platform than we had previously been getting with our original vendor and FirstLight was such a step up for us in many ways. From the platform system itself and what it offers in terms of technology, it far exceeded what we had been using. The technology behind FirstLight allows us to proactively keep our users updated on new content each day and is built in such an intuitive, easy to use format. We saw our NPS increase from 47 to 60 in the last 2 years. The FirstLight team has also worked closely with us to customize a project tracking system that allows our team to track all our projects and includes a survey process to track satisfaction among our stakeholders. They also have worked closely with us to build out extensive metrics/auditing within our platform to help us better understand usage and where we can continue to make changes and improvements. Our site is so heavily customized there is a lot I could say here, but in general we have found the FirstLight platform to work seamlessly for us in every way possible - and we have asked for a lot!
Pros
We had several key needs when we evaluated FirstLight as a vendor, but the need to be able to highly customize the site to meet our needs was at the top of our list. They have more than met this requirement and have exceeded our expectations in that regard. So many other vendors simply had an out of the box offering that would not have worked for us. The FirstLight software also provides automated features that saves our team and our users time, which conservatively, we have calculated saves our employees over almost 2 million dollars a year in time savings.
Cons
I have personally not found anything not to like about the software. Pretty much everything we have asked the FirstLight Team to do they have been able to accommodate for us.

I have witnessed the evolution of the FirstLight intelligence platform over the past three years and the [SENSITIVE CONTENT] team has consistently demonstrated a commitment to customer service and continuous product improvements. The [SENSITIVE CONTENT] team has responded to our requests and information needs by adding the ability to collect from new sources, adjusting permission settings to ensure responsible information sharing of more sensitive information, and new analytics capabilities to facilitate our competitive analysis. I highly recommend FirstLight and the [SENSITIVE CONTENT] team.

The FirstLight collection and monitoring tools, search and filter capabilities, and analytics capabilities are foundational and critical to our team's intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination routines.
Cons
As you will find with most software platforms, standing up the capabilities can be a manual process with a high learning curve, so we've found a best practice to designate one "subject matter expert" or admin per team to own standing up capabilities and ensure that we can scale more quickly. Once capabilities are standing, the rest of the team can operate smoothly.

The initial buildout takes some forethought and time: Layout dashboards, selecting taxonomy, mapping work flow, etc. However, the dedicated vendor staff was always available and responded timely.
